hi

i have just completed a really handy set of FAQ's which can be used as a reference guide when creating html forms. It's really easy to use and cuts down on having to refer to the online manual. all possible topics are covered and example code is included.

you can get the guide from my site.

This is spam. Why should people pay $10 for something they can get for free in the PEAR manual and in the rather extensive tutorial that is linked from the PEAR manual?

hi there mark

the reason why i created the "Quickform FAQ - a reference guide" was purely for my own use. it helped me a great deal and i thought that others would also find it useful.

i simply did not have the time to keep refering to the online documentation, which is good if you are a seasoned php programmer and are comfortable with classes, objects, methods, etc - but if you are not a php programmer and just know enough to do the job at hand and don't have the time or need to become a professional php programmer, then this reference guide is handy as it offers a quick way of finding out how to do something. by using the FAQ format most of the common tasks are listed. the user selects the task and a more detailed description of how to achieve that task is given along with sample code. throughout the guide i make it known that should they need more information then they should consult the online documentation. i did not intend to replace the online documentation. i merely created an aid which can be used in conjunction with the online documentation.

why the $10 ? simply because i spent many hours creating the guide and also because i need to eat! is it worth $10 ? had this guide been around when i needed to create forms in a hurry, i certainly would have paid $10 as it would have saved me hours of frustration trying to figure out how to create certain elements, etc.

how much is your time worth?

best regards

Look at this QF tutorial: http://www.midnighthax.com/quickform.php

It is available for free. If people want to honor the author's work, they can do it, of course.

The same might be true for your FAQ. I wouldn't spend $10 if I don't know what I really get. Three screenshots do not tell much about the contents. Maybe the concept from the tutorial (see above) might make more people interested on your FAQ. The more people interested, the more people might give you some dollars.

Look at PEAR and my name. IMHO Open Source is a place where users can give something back to the package authors. Improving documentation (not only for making money) is one possibility.
