QuickForm hierselect bug

Good day

I am currently experiencing a weird bug with the hierselect in HTML_QuickForm. I run php5.2.4 on ubuntu. My hierselect populates correctly but when I submit the form I get the following when I do a vardump

["defaultEntryClass"]=>
array(1) {
[1]=>
string(1) "r"
}

What I have noticed is that the word Array gets passed on instead of an Array() containing the values from the hierselect.

If you want to get an opinion here about whether this is really a bug, we need example code that shows the described behaviour.
