I can see that the community, including my own project, is hurting for an MDB2 ODBC driver. I'm a newbie to PEAR but fairly advanced in PHP, so what better way for me to learn about MDB2 and, indirectly, PEAR than to build it?

I wonder if I could get a "briefing" of the stuff involved to help me get started? For example, how do the existing drivers work? (And please don't just tell me to look at the source; I tried that. Tracing function calls is much harder, I think, than explaining what one already knows.) What would be different for this one?

Thanks!

Your plan sounds great. The MDB2 developers don't read this forum, and therefore, it might be a good idea to either write to the pear-dev mailing list or to contact the MDB2 developers directly.
