Spreadsheet_Excel_Writer creates unrecognized format

On my Linux server the Spreadsheet_Excel_Writer component works perfectly but on my web hosts server it returns a file that Excel and OpenOffice do not recognize.

They tell me they have the proper OLE component installed, so would could it be? I've tried both opening it in my browser and saving it to disk before opening, but I get the same result.

Same problem..

It works on a Dreamhost site running PHP5 and a Dreamhost site running PHP4 but not a MT site running PHP4.

When I open the generated non-file in notepad (instead of Excel) it's empty.

I still do not have a solution. So if you ever find anything out, please, let me know.
